The WRF launched this project, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI): Better Use of Systems and Data to explore the varied applications of AMI systems and maximize their value. Beyond meter readings for billing, utilities need to identify improvement opportunities using AMI data sets, data processing, analysis tools, and control tools. This project highlighted innovative uses of AMI technology through practical discussions with utility participants and identified research or innovation needs to further advance this field.
