NYWEA's Brian Romeiser Scholarship provides funding for pre-certification courses and associated costs for individuals pursuing wastewater operator certification.
Pre-certification training includes: Basic Operations, Basic Laboratory, Activated Sludge, the Grade 3 Supervisory Course and Technical Module and the Grade 4 Management courses. Courses must be completed within a 12- month period of the application.
Ten scholarships of up to $1,000 each are available each year: five (5) in the Spring and five (5) in the Fall.
Eligibility:
1.) Applicants must be working at a water resource recovery facility in New York State; and
2.) Applicants must be pursuing a New York Wastewater Operator Certification.
Deadlines:
Fall: November 1, 2026
Spring: March 1, 2027
