These scholarships are named after Lucy Grassano who was a Principal Administrative Assistant at NYCDEP. She was a mentor, friend, teacher and “mother” to many operations staff throughout the years. Everyone needs a coach. It is in this spirit that these scholarships are granted in her name.

Scholarship winners receive full conference registration for both NYWEA’s February Annual Conference in New York City and the June Spring Meeting. Winners also receive travel reimbursement up to $1100 to attend the conferences, a 12-month NYWEA affiliate membership, and a scholarship winner dinner at the Annual Meeting. One operator from each NYWEA Chapter’s geographic area will be selected.

To be eligible: Candidates must work day-to-day as an operator in a wastewater treatment facility or in collections.Candidates must have never previously attended a NYWEA Annual Meeting in New York City.

Candidates must submit a fully-complete application, including a letter of recommendation from the candidate’s current supervisor.
